Galatia Films on the Farm

Galatia Films teams up with Clemson Extension Service, Clemson University, and the Southeast Produce Council to create a one-of-a-kind children’s show – Lucy’s Tasty Treasures. The show highlights farms and their produce from around the Southeastern United States including such tasty treats as peaches, collard greens, corn, blueberries, mushrooms, apples, and citrus, among many others. Lucy’s Tasty Treasures has already garnered many accolades and awards and is being used in more than 30 school systems nation wide as part of their health education programming.
Lucy spends the final day of class daydreaming about summer vacation- ice cream, afternoons at the movie theater, swimming at the pool- when her teacher hands out a Summer Inquiry Project. In Lucy’s words, “a crazy treasure hunt”. This assignment brings her and her little brother Austin to farms all over the Southeast to discover not only the tasty treasures themselves, but also how they are grown, harvested, and packaged. Even better, during the adventure Lucy and Austin learn exciting lessons in nutrition and good health!

Using a team including writers, director, producer, composers, cinematographers, and other support staff, Galatia Films provides pre-production, production, and post-production for Lucy’s Tasty Treasures.

What happens to a cancer survivor once they’ve heard the long sought after word, “remission,” from their caregivers? Within minutes, they are asked to switch gears from “strive to survive” to return to “normal life” again. This transition can be one of the most difficult parts of a cancer patient’s healing process and yet the patient no longer has the resources and support available during treatment from the medical community. This is where the Mary Maguire Foundation steps in to aid in the transition from surviving to thriving.

Founded by Maureen Riopelle, a cancer survivor herself, the Mary Maguire Foundation offers services to women as they work to return their lives back to normal after months of grueling treatment and recovery. By offering a Circle of Help which includes such services as health and fitness training, financial assistance, lifestyle, and social support such as retreats, the Foundation helps women in the Cincinnati area regain their health, confidence, and standard of living.

An Empyrean Productions project, Galatia Films served this production as the camera department capturing revealing moments of these women’s lives through touching interviews and daily activities.

Two Shorts in Conjunction with IMS Productions

Although this pair of shorts was shot in the upstate of South Carolina in August, the setting required the replication of a research hub in Antartica. The project detailed the interaction of two brothers, in their early teens as they grappled with some of life’s difficult lessons.

Harry and Jack were played by two talented young actors who, as it turned out, were truly brothers. Harry and Jack’s Dad made a special appearance from the penguin exhibit in the zoo back home through a video phone call.

Trouble at the Lab dealt with issues based on harmony, whereas Sharing the News touched at the heart of communication and selflessness.

Galatia Films served in most capacities of this project, including producing, directing, locations, art direction, cinematography, special effects, and editing. These two episodes are produced in conjunction with IMS Productions out of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
