That’s because Hollywood has rolled out the red carpet for some new and truly awesome martial arts. The Keysi Fighting Method or KFM has become a hero’s success. KFM originators Justo Dieguez Serrano and Andy Norman will be teaming up with Galatia Films and many others for an upcoming feature documentary showcasing not only the big-screen adaptations such as in the new Batman films, but the birth and rise of KFM on the streets of Spain, and it’s harsher, off-screen nature. No offense to the Great Adam West, but I’d rather take a “KaPow!” haymaker from the old days than a Keysi-Christian-Bale-elbow-crack, wouldn’t you? And he’s using the PG-13 version.

Watch Dark Knight, read the Film Ink article, and definitely check out the official Keysi Fighting Method website to find a school in your area or train online! One of the great beauties of the martial art is a focus not necessarily on acquiring skills or specific techniques, but sharpening instinctual reaction - great for battling the evil forces of Gotham, or just for those times when you left your katana on the nightstand and end up having to defend yourself against three angry people down a tight alley.

An established director, Evans wrote and co-directed the classic film Radio Flier for Columbia Pictures staring Elijah Wood and Adam Baldwin. The following year he went on to write and direct The Sandlot. Cherished by audiences and critics alike, Sandlot was produced by 20th Century Fox staring Dennis Leary and James Earl Jones. Recently David directed The Final Season for Yari Film Group staring Sean Astin, Larry Miller, Rachael Leigh Cook, and Michael Angarano. A director with a keen eye and vision, Evans’ catalog includes films for Universal, Sony, and Disney.

Regarding Glastonbury’s subject matter and original screenplay, David states, "I am very impressed with Daniel’s script, It seems impossible that no one has made this story before." Glastonbury screenwriter and producer, Daniel McNicoll, was a part of the long search for the right director. "In the end this was a very easy decision," states Daniel, "and I think David is a wonderful artist."

Evans joins a experienced group of production talent including Lord of the Rings illustrator John Howe and Weta Workshop director Richard Taylor. During the months ahead David will work closely with Galatia Films as they consider casting for the film. Glastonbury explores the legendary journey of Joseph of Arimathea as he escapes peril in Jerusalem. Upon his arrival in Britain, which is on the edge of war with Rome, he implores the help of the warrior-prince Caractacus in an effort to defend their sacred customs and ancient ways.

Galatia Films is excited to have David on board and will continue developing the package over the coming months. "David is extremely talented," comments McNicoll, "and best of all he really understands the ’soul’ of the story. This has always been paramount to Galatia Films, that is, finding a director with a real passion for the narrative. "

Lucy’s Tasty Treasures will be aired on SC ETV on the school broadcast station throughout the state this Fall. This will enable classrooms in every county to tune in to the program at specified times this semester. We are very excited about the level of accessibility this will afford. Many more classrooms will now be able to integrate Lucy’s into their health and nutrition education.

More on Lucy’s Tasty Treasures from their website:

The program was developed by Katherine Cason, professor and state program leader for food safety and nutrition, to help combat the obesity epidemic. It follows Cason’s daughter, Melissa, who plays Lucy in the show, on a treasure hunt to locate and learn about healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, dairy and whole grains. Other actors include Emory and Georgia Childress, Rosio Antunez, Mary Lewis and Clemson University students and faculty, Sergio Nieto Montenegro, Rachel Harris, Marta Gamboa, Mercedes Rossi and Yenory Hernandez.

The Telly Awards honor the very best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the Web. The 29th Annual Telly Awards received over 14,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.

Lucy’s takes a farm-to-table approach to promote healthful eating and physical activity is being offered to elementary schools this year through DVDs, family newsletters, student activity books and photo-novellas.

The curriculum is being used in 30 percent of South Carolina schools, with orders from approximately 100 teachers in nine other states. It is also used by Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program educators in more than 260 schools and by the non-profit Zest Quest® children’s health initiative in 14 schools. Additional information, recipes, games, a blog, and order form for the DVDs are on this website.

With over 10 years of footage, Legend Castle will explore the significance of Bamburgh Castle and the amazing archaeological finds discovered there. Expected release, early 2009.
An unlikely group of young archaeologists uncover more than they dreamed possible when their excavations at a lonely fortress on the edge of Britain reveal buried secrets over two thousand years in the making. Bamburgh Castle represents one of the most important archaeological sites in Britain, containing within its bounds layers representing thousands of years of continuous occupation.

The Bamburgh Research Project will team with Galatia Films to produce another high profile film produced by Erica Black, co-written and directed by Gerry Twomey and Daniel McNicoll. The Bamburgh Research Project is an archaeological project, which was set up in 1996 to investigate the archaeology and history of the Bamburgh area.

This film is currently in development due for release in winter 2009.
